Digital Dental X-rays and Radiation – Procedure, Purpose and Importance
We are frequently asked by parents if x-rays are necessary before, during and after orthodontic Treatment? Yes they are! Here, at Masri Orthodontics, we have the most current, digital x-rays and will make sure our patients are wearing lead vests and shields to protect them. Dr. Masri uses the most up-do-date equipment and technology.
Did you know that studies have shown that digital dental X-rays have the lowest dose of radiation; it is about the same as the radiation that you would get from taking a short plane ride. Also, dental x-rays, give off just a fraction of radiation, compared to others.
Orthodontists and Dentists need to look VERY closely at a patient’s root system and jaw structure. Sometimes we even find that there is a missing tooth under a baby tooth. How would we find this out without an x-ray! Radiographs (or x-rays) have been used safely for years and will remain in use for years to come.
The benefits of diagnosis far outweigh the possible risks of taking an x-ray. Be sure to let Dr. Masri, or his staffknow if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or are nursing, before taking an x-ray.
We want your experience at Masri Orthodontics to be pleasant and know that Dr. Masri is “hip with the times”~!
